Meeting my new brother.

Strange things happen when you're a twin. I don't believe in anything supernatural, but sometimes you have strange coincidences which make you think. One of these was in September 2006 when I rang Bronwen to let her know that I'd met my now husband. When I told her that I was seeing a lovely new man, she said "so am I"! It didn't steal my thunder, and it was rather amusing as when we compared notes it sounded like we'd met almost the same person. I couldn't wait to meet Andy and one Saturday I headed up to Bishops Waltham (where Bron was Head Gardener of an Estate). First impressions; a quiet man who let everyone talk around him, and then added wisdom and intelligence in abundance. Whilst being a big chap, he wasn't loud and you didn't always know he was there, but his presence was huge. They hadn't been together long but they were so happy together, and Andy was keen to add to his already beautiful family, so Bron gave up her career and hey presto, along came a beautiful little boy. I was honoured to be at the birth of Dominic and Andy and I sat at one end of the delivery room with Bron screaming at the other. Andy had very generously provided popcorn and peanuts and was giggling at the thought of this strange 'cinema' experience. Bron saw the funny side too thankfully. Andy was like a happy puppy and the arrival of Dominic brought such joy, it was wonderful just to spend time with them. Andy's diagnosis hit him hard initially, but as time went on he never felt sorry for himself, or wallowed, which he was perfectly entitled to do. Through all this, the daily grind of illness didn't stop Andy's love of children and he was keen to add to the brood .. and along came baby Till. Andy was always playing with the boys. Computer games, Poggle in a Blanket, lots of giggling and laughing, and reading galore. To everyone that knew Andy, we've lost something really special .... to everyone who never met him, you've missed out! RIP big guy x
